Rachel Cameron

In June 2018 I visited our link school in Malawi, Linthipe Secondary School. In September 2018, I was appointed as one of the members on the SMP Youth Committee. I have attended a number of meetings and events with the SMP. One of the best moments of my work was asking the President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika about his government’s plans to get more girls in school in April 2018. I also enjoyed meeting Princess Anne as well! My main interest is promoting gender equality and advocating for girl’s education in Malawi. I also believe it’s very important to share the voices of young people and this is part of why I joined the Youth Committee. This is why I co-created and manage the SMP Youth Insta, @scotmalawiyouth. I would like to in the future use my connections in a career as a human rights journalist.
