I have dear family connections to Malawi. My aunt and uncle June and Robbie Anderson emigrated to Africa from Scotland in the 1950s, eventually settling in Malawi. June worked for KLM in Blantyre and helped establish the business in East Africa. She was also instrumental in founding a school for girls in Malawi. June and Robbie had two children, David, born in 1959, and Melanie, born in 1966. Melanie predeceased her parents in 1990, dying tragically in a flying accident in Zambia. June died in 1996 and both she and Melanie are buried in Limbe. It is with great sadness that I can report that my cousin David, a business man with long established links in Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and Dubai, died on 26th February 2019 in Nairobi. His ashes will be taken from Scotland to his home, Malawi, in the near future for a celebration of his life and that of the Anderson family.
