19 March 2020

With schools and nurseries (link to SG website) set to close the by the end of the week, the SMP is committed to continue to support your school's link to Malawi and young people's interest in the partnership between the two countries.

With schools and nurseries set to close the by the week beginning Monday 23rd March, the SMP is committed to continue to support your school's link to Malawi and young people's interest in the partnership between the two countries.

As a team, we'll be working on a number of levels to do this including:

  • new resources to suit virtual teaching in primary and secondary settings,

  • activity ideas and support for groups in schools that have had to cancel trips to Malawi,

  • new means of support for teachers and staff managing school partnerships,

  • keeping you updated with opportunities available to support your partnership.

In terms of support for young people across Scotland with a link to Malawi, we'll be looking at ways to create an online community where we can share news, ideas, competitions, challenges and information with them. We'll be working closely with the Youth Committee, our partners and our members to create an outward looking community, bringing a little bit of Malawi to Scotland and feeding young people's interest in the link when they may be experiencing feelings of isolation from the outside world.

If you have any thoughts, questions, comments or ideas about any of the above, please do get in touch with Gemma, our Youth & Schools Manager, who will be more than happy to discuss them with you.
