Working in collaboration with Hydro Nation International Centre (HNIC), the Scotland Malawi Partnership invited members to attend our upcoming WASH Forum, entitled:

Data, Information and Knowledge Flows in WASH:
paving the way towards SDG6 and the Malawi Vision 2063

Access to safe and affordable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is vital for the health and well-being of people and for inclusive and sustainable development. In the Sustainable Development Goals, WASH is targeted in SDG6 and is a top priority at global, regional, and local levels, including in Malawi and Scotland. Further, ‘Clean Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene’ is identified as Enabler 5 of the Malawi 2063 Vision and underpins Scotland’s Hydro Nation agenda. 

Despite efforts both in Scotland and Malawi to make data, information, knowledge and evidence-based decision- and policy-making a backbone of WASH-related governance and development, there are a number of challenges. At this WASH Forum we will strive to explore how the Governments of Scotland and Malawi communicate their data, information and knowledge needs and how the knowledge-makers respond to those needs.
