EMMS International is a Christian international healthcare charity. Saving lives through compassionate healthcare in Malawi, India and Nepal. EMMS International was founded in 1841 as the Edinburgh Medical Missionary Society.,,The focus of its work is providing palliative care, improving maternal and child health, and fighting disease and disability. This is achieved through working in partnership with local organisations to train staff, strengthen healthcare infrastructure and provide essential resources.,,EMMS International has worked in Malawi since 2000. Funds have been provided to produce a handbook in palliative care and train volunteers in its use. To recruit and train mother buddies in the Mzenga region to stop the spread of HIV from mother to child. In Mulanje, a comprehensive primary healthcare project is improving healthcare for the surrounding villages including child vaccinations and nutrition care for people living with HIV.,,A project to provide education of registered nurse midwives and clinical officers, part-funded by the Scottish Government, will see its first graduates from Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences.,,In India, with EHA, EMMS International supports the development of palliative care in a number of mission hospitals, infrastructure projects including the rebuilding of Chinchpada hospital in rural Maharashtra, and providing critical care for people living with HIV in Delhi. In Nepal, support is given to INF to provide essential healthcare for mothers and babies.,
