Youth Membership is for anyone aged 14-24 years old, living in Scotland and with a keen interest in Malawi. We know that youth links between Scotland and Malawi have a clear role to play as they allow young people in both countries to share ideas and advice, offer support and develop friendships that enable or foster reciprocal learning for years to come.

As a Youth Member, you can:

  • Engage with the SMP Youth Committee and shape hot topics

  • Have your voice heard and feed into key SMP activities

  • Be first to know about youth focused events throughout the year

  • We are proud to have an active Youth Committee helping guide and drive our engagement with young people and ensuring, as a network, we remain relevant for younger generations. Learn more about our Youth Committee here. Have your thoughts, photos, blogs, videos shared on Instagram: @scotmalawiyouth

Youth Members can be brilliant ambassadors for the SMP’s Partnership Principles and model of dignified people-to-people links.

The people-to-people approach is one of mutual respect and solidarity, which rejects the traditional model of wealthy countries dictating to poorer countries. Youth partnerships that are built on mutual respect, shared experiences and shared learning, are contributing to a more globally aware youth in both nations.

We invite you to take a look at the SMP’s Youth Committee led Instagram account to get a great sense of the youth focussed activities and campaigns taking place at the moment.
