Mamie Martin Fund
"To work with the girls has always been my passion and I do enjoy it. I will do what I can to see that we carry forward Mamie's dream and vision." Mercy Sibande, MMF's Malawi Manager. The Mamie Martin Fund was established in 1993 to support the education of girls in secondary schools in Northern Malawi. Having started with a partnership with the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, we now also support girls at a Community Day Secondary School and in boarding schools run by the Diocese of Karonga.
In 2022 we supported 148 girls at secondary school in Northern Malawi by paying their fees and associated expenses. Nine of those are deaf girls at Embangweni Secondary School for Deaf Children.
- Girls' education reduces the incidence of child marriage.
- Educated women have fewer children, making it less difficult for them to feed and educate those children.
- Educated women take part in the affairs of the community and country with confidence.
