'Made in Malawi' campaign - get involved

A lot of you have told us they would like to support the Malawian economy by buying more Malawian products here in Scotland, in fact many of you already do and sales of Traidcraft's Mzuzu coffee are up 83% in Scotland from the previous year! There are a number of products already available online, visit our 'buy Malawian' section (under get involved) for details, but many of you have commented that it would also be great to have them available to buy in the shops.

So with this in mind we have tried approaching all the major supermarkets and while we have made some progress we have learned that it is a long and difficult process to get new products on the shelves. So, in the meantime we have decided to get together with a couple of our members, namely: Just Trading Scotland (JTS), who sell Kilombero rice from Karonga ; and Triadcraft, who sell Mzuzu coffee; to approach a number of small, local, independent business in Scotland to ask them to consider stocking Malawian products.

We have already made a start in Stockbridge, next stop is Glasgow, so we are now asking members across the country, could your local coffee shop serve Mzuzu? maybe your deli could stock some Kilombero rice?

If you want to get involved or have any ideas please get in touch and let's bring a taste of the Warm Heart of Africa to Scotland!
