Arising from demand from SMP members and led by Malawian priorities, a new SMP Renewable Energy Forum met for the first time this March.
Among the three main outcomes and actions identified is a commitment to:
- Publish a 10 page overview of existing Scotland-Malawi projects with a renewable energy component
- Update all related member profiles on the SMP’s online map of Scotland-Malawi links (which can then be further updated and maintained by members themselves).
- Update the dedicated Environment and Energy page which automatically collates live data on all energy links.
Towards achieving this, we would invite all SMP Members whose links with Malawi have a renewable energy component to update their profile and to make contact with .
The Forum’s Combined Terms of Reference and draft 18 month work plan will look to advance the renewable energy priorities identified in the ‘Malawi and Scotland: Together for Sustainable Development’ Conference Statement .
