We are thrilled to announce that we will be joined at our AGM on Saturday, October 5 by a very special guest – rising star of world music Lazarus Chigwandali from Malawi’s capital Lilongwe.

Since being brought to the attention of the wider world by Mumford & Sons and Baaba Maal producer Johan Hugo, Lazarus has recorded an album, featured in a documentary film about his life and become a spokesperson for Africans with albinism – a group that suffers persecution, violence or death as a result of myths and superstitions surrounding the genetic condition.

The event will also feature the Scottish premiere screening of the Madonna-backed bio-documentary 'Lazarus' - launched at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York and is winning many awards in the run up to the Oscars.

We will be treated by a performance from Lazarus alongside our regular local musical talent from the Malawian diaspora in Scotland who are established artists in Malawi in their own right, as well as all the usual AGM standbys such as the marketplace and networking opportunities.

The AGM is a truly memorable day which is not be missed. It’s the biggest and best gathering of people involved in Scotland-Malawi partnerships and a day to share information about your links with Malawi, be inspired and make new friends and contacts.

We keep the official business mercifully short – while ensuring all members have a voice – and maximise time for members to interact, share and network.

It’s a fun, memorable and inspiring day that’s not to be missed so book your place now!
