Our Youth and Schools Officer Gemma Burnside is currently on a trip to Malawi – working with colleagues in our sister organisation Malawi Scotland Partnership (MaSP) to meet MaSP members across Malawi and strengthening the links between the SMP and MaSP teams.

Keen photographer Gemma has sent us these photos of her trip so far.

Gemma and the MaSP team for the Southern region had a tour around Kondonani children’s home with a stop off at the home’s very own piece of paradise – known to the children as El Paradiso. (Gemma with (L to R): Cosmas Nakoma and Ruth Maluwa (MaSP), Cherie Martin from Kondanani and Linda Dembo (MaSP)).

Gemma presented an update for MaSP members at both the Northern and Southern regional meetings. The meetings were a great chance to hear more about how MaSP members’ work is contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Gemma has had plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous views as she and Linda have travelled across Malawi. Here’s the view from the bus as they headed south from Lilongwe to Blantyre.

Gemma has been out visiting schools across the country which have partners in Scotland. The welcomes have been so warm, including this one at Katawa Primary School in Mzuzu.

It's not been all work and no play, of course, and Gemma has been enjoying the local food especially in Blantyre, getting the chance to try it out with the MaSP team.
