New Funding Opportunity – Global Solidarity Fund Launched

The Scottish Government’s new Global Solidarity Fund (GSF) has been launched, with applications now open for small Scottish-based organisations, community groups and diaspora-led initiatives involved in international development and global citizenship work.

Designed to be accessible and supportive, particularly for organisations new to government funding, the GSF offers grants of up to £50,000 across three funding streams:

• Scottish Civil Society Organisation (CSO) Strengthening Grant: (Grants up to £10,000). Aimed at ensuring Scotland’s small iNGOs are safe, resilient and effective in delivering against their mission. Grant is for supporting Scottish based CSOs working in any country with medium/ low development status.

• Global Citizenship Engagement Grant: Grants up to £5,000 for small charities and social enterprises, and £2,000 for unaffiliated groups. Grant aims to increase understanding of and participation in global citizenship predominately, but not limited to, the public in Scotland.
• Shifting the Power Grant: Grants up to £50,000. Grant is aimed at providing opportunities for small Scottish iNGOs to work with partners towards a locally led model of development. Grant is for Scottish based CSOs working with partners in Malawi, Zambia or Rwanda.
  

An overview of the Scottish Government’s new Global Solidarity Fund was shared in an informative webinar which is available online. The webinar explains the aims of the fund, its eligibility criteria, application requirements, and offers guidance on using the Flexi Grant platform.

Led by the Scottish Government’s Alice Bayles, Rachel Beattie and Andy East of Scottish Government-appointed GSF Fund Managers, NIRAS, the webinar also responded to participants’ questions.
