In the coming weeks we’re going to be launching a major new media project. We have commissioned an independently produced podcast series, really digging into the key themes of the bilateral relationship and helping tell our members’ stories. It will be co-produced and co-hosted by two hugely inspiring young women based in Edinburgh: Hazel Darwin-Clements (a Scot) and Chimzy Dorey (a Malawian).

The series will explore things like: our shared history and values; responsible travel; Black Lives Matter; sustainability and the climate crisis; Covid cooperation; gender and human rights; arts and culture; agriculture and food security. It isn’t about a formal SMP ‘corporate voice’ but rather a chatty, informal discussion. There will be discussion between Hazel and Chimzy, as well as with their guests. It’ll perhaps be as much about the journey and learning they go on, as about discovering objective facts.

Over the coming months they will, together, interview dozens of key individuals in the bilateral relationship, from all sorts of different backgrounds, in both Malawi and Scotland. Interviews will be held via video call.

If you think you have an interesting angle to share relating to the Scotland-Malawi relationship, and would be happy to be interviewed by Chimzy and Hazel please complete a short online form to share your details.

Please do share this others you think would make a great spokesperson. We’re keen to have as many Malawians as Scots, so do share with your partners as well.

We can’t promise to feature everyone, but we’re keen to put an open call out.
