Malawi Scotland Partnership celebrate 206th birthday of Dr David Livingstone by

Our sister network, the Malawi Scotland Partnership (MaSP), co-hosted a special celebration day at Mbuka CCAP Primary School in honour of Dr David Livingstone's birth date.

Marking what would have been the explorer's 206th birthday, the pupils enjoyed a short talk from Resident Pastor Rev. David Zembeni about the life and impact of Dr. David Livingstone, which was followed by a number of celebrations ranging from songs, poems, drama performances and even some ceilidh dancing!

Speaking of the event, Vera Kamtukule, MaSP Chief Executive Officer, said: “It was a pleasure to have celebrated the birth of a legend who, 206 years later, still lives in our hearts.

“His impact can be seen and felt even among young children through history. It was interesting to see pupils narrate the life of a man who gave so much to Malawi. Indeed, Dr David Livingstone may be long gone, but for Malawi, his spirit lives on.

“The choice of Mbuka CCAP Primary school was perfect for us. As a member who has a faith based linked, having this function at this school went a long way in reinforcing the partnerships which exists between Malawi and Scotland.”
