DFID Review of Civil Society Engagement

The Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening, announced on the 2nd July a review of DFID's relationship with civic society.
The Secretary of State for International Development, Justine Greening, announced on the 2nd July a review of DFID’s relationship with civic society, saying:
“I want to create a relationship with civil society which is much more strategic than it is at the moment, has more depth to it – and is more efficient - so we can deliver even more for the world’s poorest…
"...This review will take place over the next 5 months. And it will really consider DFID’s relationships with civil society in the UK and across the world and how they, and the environment we are operating in, is changing.
"…I’m really determined it’s a collaborative process, we want to speak to all of you - current and previous civil society partners and those seeking new partnerships…”
The SMP is in contact with DfID and will look to represent members by actively feeding into the review. We continue to champion the model of people-to-people and community-to-community links, and encourage the UK government to do more to engage these civic links in its own development activity.
We will keep members informed as to how they can feed into the review once more information is available.
