The Scotland Malawi Partnership and Scotland’s International Development Alliance co-hosted a roundtable meeting with Richard Leonard MSP, leader of Scottish Labour, on Friday 22nd February at Edinburgh City Chambers.
This meeting was a chance for members of both networks to meet with Mr Leonard and discuss Scottish Labour’s involvement in international development and the bilateral relationship with Malawi. It was one of a series of meetings with Scottish political leaders in the run up to the 2021 Holyrood elections.
The SMP remains politically neutral but actively engages each political party in Holyrood. Scotland’s links with Malawi enjoy strong all-party political support from all 129 MSPs in Holyrood and all 59 Scottish MPs in Westminster.
After the meeting Richard Leonard MSP recorded a special video message offering his support for Scotland’s links with Malawi and the SMP.
