Our Health Forum brought together those across Scotland involved with health links with Malawi.
Taking place on Tuesday October 23rd, 2:45pm - 5:00pm, at the City Chambers in Edinburgh, we were delighted to have Dr Ibe Iwuh, a Malawian obstetrician/gynaecologist with interest in cervical screening, and midwife Rachel Macleod who joined us to speak about their experiences of working together.
We had the new SG-funded projects presenting on their work, with some very interesting discussions around collaboration and networking following this.
In additions, there was also an update from the new Scottish Global Health Collaborative coordination centre.
As always, a key part in the SMP Health Forums was time for discussion and questions with the strategic aims of the Health Forum to help:
• Raise awareness of SG-funded health projects in Malawi
• Facilitate connectivity and promote collaboration between Malawi and Scotland’s Health practitioners, particularly in sharing insights as to lessons learned
• Identify tangible actions to enhance the work of project grantees during and beyond their Scottish Government award
This Health Forum was composed of medical practitioners, those with an interest in Scotland and Malawi relations, Scottish Government grantees, health sector and international development actors and members of the Scottish Government.
