Our Cross-Party Group meeting on Scotland-Malawi relations and climate change was held on 6th June in the Scottish Parliament.
Our keynote speaker was Vincent Moyo, Tearfund Country Representative for Malawi. Read his bio below:
Vincent Moyo, Tearfund Country Representative for Malawi
Vincent Moyo is the Tearfund Country Representative in Malawi and has been in this role since March 2008. Prior to that he worked in World Vision International for 20 years in various roles and laterly was the Operations Director, leading the design and implementation of World Vision work in Malawi with a staff of c1500 people.
He was also their Ministry Quality director leading the process of defining the country strategy, setting ministry standards and ensuring adherence through evaluations and peer reviews. He gets inspired when his contribution transforms people's lives positively. He is a graduate of University of Malawi and Reading University, specialising in Sociology and Rural Social Development.
We also heard from two projects currently funded under the Scottish Government's Climate Justice Innovation Fund:
Gillian Wilson from Community Energy Scotland on their project 'Building community climate resilience through sustainable electricity for enterprise' in the Mchinji district
Evie Murray from Leith Community Crops in Pots on their project, 'Living Trees of Livingstonia', in collaboration with Thrive Scotland
