Youth Article Competition

10 June 2016

Would you like to have an article you have written published in the Scotsman this year? Here is your chance...

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is part of Friends of The Scotsman. This allows us to write and publish an opinion article every 6-8 weeks in The Scotsman newspaper and on their website about the links between Scotland and Malawi.

This year we're giving our youth members the chance to write one of these articles and have it published in The Scotsman!

We would like to encourage youth members and students from all of our member schools to enter this youth article competition.

What type of article should be entered?

The article must be 750 words and be about school links between Scotland and Malawi. The topic you choose to focus on within this theme, or the angle you choose to write the article from, is totally up to you!

Who can enter?

Any member of the Scotland Malawi Partnership can enter (including a student attending a school that is a member of ours). There are two categories for entry, under 18 and 18 to 24, please state what age you are when you enter.

How many articles can each school submit?

The school can submit as many articles as they like but it is limited to one article per student or one article per youth member.

What’s the prize?

There will be a winner selected from the under 18 category and one from the 18 to 24 category, they will both receive Malawian goody bags. The overall winner between these two will have their article published in the Scotsman this year and the second winner will have theirs published in the Scotland Malawi Partnership weekly Bulletin, Schools Newsletter and Youth Newsletter.

When’s the deadline?

Monday 12th September 2016.

How can I enter?

Email your entries to Emily(at)scotland-malawipartnership.org with ‘Youth article competition’ in the subject title.
