Daliso Chaponda to perform live at SMP Annual Conference!

17 September 2020

Our AGM and Annual Conference on Sat 3rd October will include real, frank discussions about Covid, Black Lives Matter, climate action and more, but we also want it to uplift and inspire, as we re-energise and re-engage our membership at this crucial moment. We’re therefore really excited to make the first special announcement about speakers and performers for the digital event.

We’re delighted to announce that the afternoon will close with a special one-off, live performance by Malawi’s most famous comedian, Daliso Chaponda!

Saturday 3rd October, 2 - 4.30pm.

Daliso has a huge number of fans across our membership and has been delighting audiences across the world for a number of years, including regularly featuring in the Edinburgh Fringe.

Since reaching the Britain’s Got Talent finals, Daliso Chaponda has been perhaps one of the most famous Malawians in the performing arts. His two outstanding BBC Radio 4 series (Daliso Chaponda: Citizen of Nowhere), have explored serious themes of identity, representation, global citizenship and migration in genuinely light-hearted and engaging ways. He has been an inspiring Malawian voice on the airwaves and on the television.

Daliso Chaponda will perform a special live set to bring our Annual Conference to a close and we’ll also have a Q&A for members to ask him their own questions.

We may not be able to meet in person this year but, be assured, our 2020 Annual Conference and AGM will be more engaging, inspiring and uplifting than ever.

We recommend members sign-up early, and encourage their partners in Malawi to join, as places will likely sell-out for this free event.
