Malawi Choir Performance
On 18th August, we hosted a special live performance from the Malawian Youth Choir who performed at this's year's Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
We were delighted to invite members to a special live performance from the Malawian Youth Choir who are performing at this year’s Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
The choir are from the Edinburgh Girls’ High School in Malawi. The Malawi school, known as the Edinburgh Girls’ High School because of the close link with the Mary Erskine School, is now in its fifth year with a total roll of 160 girls in the region of Engcongolweni, near Mzuzu.
We welcomed around 70 of our members, and their families and friends to the event where we served Scotland Street Coffee and Mandazi.
In addition to serving the coffee, we also sold out of all our stock of the Scotland Street Coffee, where profits went directly to the Mamie Martin Fund who fund girls through secondary education in Malawi. Purchase of the coffee also included a short story, written by Alexander McCall Smith. You can buy more on the Brodies website (short story included), who currently has the coffee in stock HERE.
