By becoming a Friend you help support practical, long-term connections between Scotland and Malawi — building global citizenship that works for everyone. At a time of growing poverty and inequality, it is at the grassroots level that actions can have a genuine impact. Since 2005 the Scotland Malawi Partnership has been at the heart of this work. And we need your help to keep making a difference.

It takes a village...
The Scotland Malawi Partnership is a national charity. We rely on grants, donations, and membership fees to deliver our programmes. By joining us as an SMP Friend, your regular donation will help not just one organisation, but hundreds of member organisations, and the thousands of people who benefit from their work.
At the heart of our efforts lie the enduring friendships and strong bonds, forged between individuals and communities between Scotland and Malawi, which truly give meaning to our mission.
With your help we can continue to make a tangible difference for generations to come.

Have an active link in Malawi? Please consider Becoming a Member
If you are an individual or organisation that has an active link in Malawi and you want to benefit from developing partnerships, skill sharing, and networking you might be interested in becoming an SMP Member, rather than becoming a Friend.
If you would like to find out more, please reach out to one of our team at membership@scotland-malawipartnership.org.

What is the difference between becoming a Friend and becoming a Member?
Members have an active connection to Malawi and are directly involved in, or closely linked to, projects on the ground.
Friends don’t necessarily have a direct working link to Malawi but choose to support, fundraise, and champion our work from wherever they are. -
What if I am already an SMP member? Can I be both a Friend and a Member?
The short answer is yes! Let's give an example where this might happen. You are already an SMP Member as part of your school or university group or faculty, but as an individual you would love to support what the SMP does. In this case you may choose to become a Friend, too.
