Meet your local MP / MSP
We invite members of the Scotland Malawi Partnership to take part in constituency-level digital meetings, to brief their local MP and MSP on their work with Malawi, and what really matters to you.Location Zoom
The SMP is a politically neutral charity. We are independent of government but work closely with the Scottish, UK and Malawian governments, and all three parliaments. In fact, we run the Malawi Cross Party Group (CPG) in the Scottish Parliament and the Malawi All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) in the UK Parliament, to ensure that the cross-party support for the bilateral relationship remains as strong as ever.
Following the recent Holyrood election, we want to organise a programme of constituency meetings across Scotland on Zoom this summer, for Scottish MPs and MSPs to meet SMP members in their local patch!
This is a unique opportunity to discuss your work with (or interest in) Malawi with your local MP/MSP, and for you to table whatever topics you want to discuss with your local representatives. It’s also a great chance to meet others in your local area that also have an interest in Malawi.
There continues to be incredibly strong all-party support for Scotland’s links with Malawi. However, we can’t take anything for granted and must see the serious and worrying cuts to aid elsewhere in the UK as a cautionary tale. It is vital we keep our elected representatives, of all parties, engaged and inspired. This is where we need your help!
If you would like to request a local constituency meeting, please complete this quick online form.
We’ll then be in contact with you to see when would be convenient for you to meet with your local MP/MSP, and others in your local area. We also encourage you to invite your Malawi partners, so they can join the conversation if they wish.
