Malawi Independence Day Celebrations 2015

Many thanks to all who made Saturday’s Malawi Independence Celebrations on Saturday in Glasgow a success. We had more than 100 attending and a record number of friends in the Malawi diaspora community join the SMP.

The day included Malawian music, a feast of Malawian food, dancing (of course!) and even some Malawian magic! Lucky Misozi Muwowo won the raffle, winning a holiday for two to Malawi including flights and accommodation.

Scotland’s Minister for International Development, Mr Humza Yousaf MSP, spoke passionately about Scotland’s historic links with Malawi as we came together to celebrate 51 years of Malawian independence.

No surprise to anyone to learn that the Scots were put to shame by the Malawians on the dancefloor! More practice for next year!
