An initial hybrid meeting to re-establish Holyrood’s Malawi Cross-Party Group (CPG) took place in the Scottish Parliament and online on Wednesday 9 September at 6pm, UK-time.
When the Scottish Parliament dissolves ahead of an election, as it did on 9 April, all CPGs cease to exist and need to be reconstituted during a new session of the Parliament.
Office-bearers were elected and those present expressed their interests and wishes for future sessions of the Malawi CPG.
Subject areas for future meetings might include (in no particular order):
- Agriculture
- Climate Emergency (El Niño and La Niña) and its effect on Malawi
- Water
- Education
- Economic situation of Malawi
- Justice
