Beginner Chichewa Lessons are back!

Muli Bwanji?!

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is excited to share the details of our 2023 online Chichewa language lessons.

Join us and learn how to greet your Malawian friends and hold basic conversations across various scenarios, such as buying food at the local market, visiting hospitals and discussing what you do for work. You'll also get to learn about the grammar and structure of the language, so you'll know how the language works alongside lots of useful vocabulary. This is the perfect course for any beginner to the Chichewa language.

We have twenty places available for a seven-part online course running every Tuesday at 7pm from 18 April to 30 May. We anticipate that places will go quickly so we encourage you to book asap to avoid disappointment. Don't worry if you think you may miss a lesson or two, as each session will be recorded and shared privately with the class afterwards.

These courses are perfect for those visiting Malawi as they include not just Chichewa training but also really useful and insightful information and discussions around Malawian culture, all in a relaxed and friendly environment. They are led by the brilliant Enock Bamusi and Sarah Niven – a great Malawi-Scotland team in action!

This seven-part course is being offered at the rate of just £30 for SMP Members and £60 for non-Members. We also strongly encourage young people to join the course, and a special rate of only £15 is available to our Youth Members (aged 14-24).

If you are experiencing financial or other barriers to taking part in this course, please contact us for support. For any school groups wishing to take part, we will be able to offer a discounted school package. Please contact us to discuss.

Don’t forget to shout about it on social media, encouraging others to join you tagging @ScotlandMalawi.

If you have any questions about the lessons, simply drop us an email to info@scotland-malawipartnership.org. We are also aware that some may be unable to attend on the dates scheduled or interested in more advanced lessons (planned for later this year), please let us know.
