Agriculture and Food Security Forum - with guest speaker Phillip Chidawati

The Scotland Malawi Partnership held an Agriculture and Food Security Forum on Thursday 12th March, featuring guest speaker Phillip Chidawati from The Challenges Group . Phillip Chidawati is a country lead for Challenges Malawi where he leads and coordinates all activities for the company, including organisational development and partner relationship building.

On 12th March, we held an open conversation on Malawian agriculture, sustainable development, business co-operation and food security with Philip Chidawati, the country lead for Challenges Malawi.

Phillip is Challenges Malawi’s first employee having joined the Challenges Group in December 2018 and successfully set up the Malawi Office by January 2019.

He will be speaking about his experience in managing value chain projects for rice, cassava, legumes, dairy and small livestock in Malawi. Using this experience, Philip led the Malawian team in crafting the Scottish Government funded CROPS (Creating Robust Opportunities in Crop Production and Sale) Project strategy and work plan. These actions assisted the Malawian team in achieving quick results in agricultural productivity, value addition and marketing of value-added products.

Discussion was lively and varied, and we thank Phillip for his contribution.

Meeting minutes are available here.

Video assets will be available soon.
