Our Youth Committee

Our Youth Committee represents the voice of the wider SMP Youth Membership. We are ten members strong and the committee influences and shapes the SMP’s wider work, ensuring that it includes and embraces issues most relevant to young people now and in the future.

Aged 14-24 years old, our SMP Youth Committee members come from all over Scotland and each holds a keen interest in Malawi. We plan, co-ordinate and pioneer SMP’s Youth led activities, helping to promote and develop the historic links between young people here in Scotland and in Malawi. We make things happen!

Our Youth Committee stand as SMP representatives and show how young people can have a voice and impact in International Development.

Youth Committee activities can include

  • Sharing valuable youth perspectives

  • Collaborating and connecting with peers in Malawi

  • Co-creating SMP events

  • Representing the SMP at workshops or other events

  • Copywriting for national newspapers

  • Running our own Instagram channel @Scotmalawiyouth
