Anthu Pamodzi Photographic Exhibition

A picture being ‘worth a thousand words’, the SMP is excited to announce plans to showcase and celebrate SMP members’ dignified partnerships with Malawi, in a touring photographic exhibition.

What is this exhibition about?

Entitled Anthu Pamodzi — “People Together”, the exhibition brings together powerful images that tell the story of people‑to‑people connections at the heart of Scotland–Malawi relationships. The photographs highlight collaboration, friendship, and mutual respect, capturing how communities in Scotland and Malawi are working together to build a better world.

Through these snapshots, the exhibition paints a broader picture of Scotland’s engagement with Malawi as a nation, while also spotlighting the involvement of specific communities across Scotland.

Why are we doing this?

This exhibition forms part of SMP’s 20th birthday celebrations, marking two decades of connecting people, organisations, and communities across Scotland and Malawi. By touring the exhibition and hosting it with local Malawi champions in communities throughout Scotland, SMP aims to:

  • Share stories of impactful partnerships rooted in equity, dignity, and mutual benefit.
  • Amplify the voices and lived experiences of SMP members and their partners.
  • Raise awareness of Malawi links locally and across Scotland.
  • Create informal, welcoming spaces for conversation, learning, and connection.

The images, contributed by SMP members, help tell authentic stories of collaboration that place partnership at the centre.
