Scotland Malawi Partnership's Project of Academic Exchange

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is pleased to announce our project of Academic Exchange, funded by the Scottish Executive's International Development Fund, which will run for three years. The goal of this project is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between Scottish and Malawian practitioners in Higher Education. The project will provide for the exchange of 12 Scottish and Malawian Fellows between Scottish universities and the Universities of Malawi and Mzuzu.

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is inviting applications for Scottish Fellows with a contribution to make in one of the following areas: Biotechnology Research; Environment and Climate Change; Physics; Hospitality; Network Security, Biomedical Science; Financial Planning; Curriculum Development; Strategic Planning; Management Information Systems; Language and Communications; Computer Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Psychology. Applicants from the academic disciplines (as opposed to administrators or librarians) should have, as a minimum, a Masters Degree and should hold a current academic post at a Scottish university or be recently retired from such a post.

Scottish Fellows will be expected to stay in Malawi (either in Zomba or Mzuzu) for an average of four months. The Scotland Malawi Partnership will cover the following costs: transport, accommodation and subsistence. Additional costs will be expected to be met by the volunteer (or their university)

The Scotland Malawi Partnership is also looking for Scottish Universities which would be willing to host a Malawi Fellow and allow them to undertake a period of professional development for an average of six to nine months, but not normally to complete a degree. Scottish universities would be expected to waive fees. The Partnership is currently seeking Universities to host Malawian Fellows in the following disciplines: Language & Communications; Computer Sciences; Mathematical Sciences; Psychology. Malawian Fellows would be expected to remain in Scotland for an average of nine months. The Scotland Malawi Partnership will cover the following costs: travel; accommodation and subsistence. The Partnership will also provide administrative support to both the University and the Malawian Fellow.

For further details of the project, if you would like to volunteer or if your university would like to host a Malawian Fellow, please contact the Scotland Malawi Partnership on 0131 5293164 or info@scotland-malawipartnership.org
