BOND Vacancy: Policy Coordinator (maternity cover). London.

Policy Coordinator (maternity cover for up to12 months/ August 2010-August 2011)

Salary: £36, 494 Location: Kings Cross, London N1

As the membership body for UK international development organisations, Bond (www.bond.org.uk) goes from strength to strength in advocacy and campaigning on development policy issues. With the strong collective voice of our member organisations, we have a track record of work to improve the policies that impact on the lives of people in poverty.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join our Advocacy and Representation team as Policy Coordinator to lead on Bond’s policy and advocacy work.

Bringing dynamic leadership to our work on international development policy, you will lead on:

· Bond’s advocacy strategy towards the UK Government and Parliament and facilitating Bond members’ collective advocacy and engagement on the UK’s international development policies

· Building and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders, UK Government and Parliament and political parties, to maximise the influence and leverage of Bond and its members

· Managing the collective advocacy efforts by Bond members at the European and wider international levels and managing Bond’s effective relations on joint influencing work with partner organisations and networks outside the UK

This post manages three staff working on EU policy, international advocacy and advocacy focused on the MDGs.

In addition to an excellent understanding of international development issues, you will know how UK decision making and policy development processes work and how to achieve policy change. You will be experienced in influencing decision-makers, having worked with NGOs on policy advocacy around global issues, and with a track record of staff management.

This post is an excellent opportunity to be at and shape the leading edge of NGO policy and advocacy on international development at a very critical time in the fight for a world of justice and equality.
