VACANCY: Link Community Development Scotland - Programme Officer

Link Community Development is offering a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Programme Officer to join our team in Edinburgh to support the development of our programmes including the Global Teachers Programme and our fundraising programmes.
Link Community Development Scotland is part of a wider international group with offices in England, Ireland and the USA. We are led by the priorities of our development partners in Malawi, South Africa, Ghana, Uganda and Ethiopia and work to improve the quality of education for children in these countries; build partnerships between education sectors; and raise awareness of and support for global development and child rights issues among civil society and within the formal education sector in Scotland.
In Scotland Link Community Development is responsible for delivering the Link Schools Programme, a supported school partnership programme; and the Global Teachers Programme, for experienced teachers and headteachers to exchange skills and expertise in Malawi within schools involved in Link Community Development’s Malawi School Improvement Project and Malawi Inclusive Education Project; and on their return share the knowledge and skills with pupils and other teachers across Scotland, in order to develop interest in global citizenship, international development and rights and responsibilities.
Job Description
The duties of the post include:
· Supporting the development of the Global Teachers Programme and any new programmes
· Supporting the development of school sponsorship and planned fundraising programmes
· Helping set up and administer the LCD Supporter Programme
· Supporting writing of trust funding applications
· Helping organise national and regional conferences and other events
· Supporting and running training events for Global Teacher participants
· Helping to disseminate the achievements, outcomes and learning from the programmes and international work of LCD
· Programme servicing and administration
Person Specification
We are looking to recruit a Programme Officer with the following skills and experience:
· Experience of delivering and developing programmes in a development context
· Experience and interest in delivering training
· Experience of setting up and delivering successful fundraising initiatives
· Excellent written skills and experience of writing funding applications
· Proactive and motivated approach
· Able to prioritise busy workloads and meet deadlines
· Excellent team and interpersonal skills
· Excellent organisational skills
· Committed to the aim of providing better quality education to children and young people in rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa
