We're excited to invite you to our 2018 #SMPAGM!
Members, non-members, family and friends are all invited to join us for a fun and inspiring afternoon celebrating all things Scotland-Malawi.
Date: Saturday 6th October
Time: 2 - 6pm
Location: University of Glasgow Student Union, 32 University Avenue, Glasgow (G12 8LX)
If you've been to an SMP AGM before you'll know they're fun, engaging and interactive days: unique opportunities to meet other Malawi-enthusiasts, promote your own partnership, learn from others, and have your say on how you want the SMP to support your link in the coming year. If you have a link with, or interest in Malawi, they're not to be missed.
This year, our AGM is themed ‘Our Shared Future: youth participation and sustainability’. As part of the Year of Young People we’ll be listening to and be led by young Scots and Malawians. We will also have time for discussion and sharing of experience around sustainability.
We’re delighted to have a number of friends joining us from Government and Parliament, including Ben Macpherson MSP, the new Scottish Government Minister for Europe, Migration and International Development who will be speaking about Malawi and will be interviewed by some of our youth members. If you haven’t had the chance to meet Mr Macpherson, this is a great opportunity to tell him about your Malawi link.
We have three spaces on our Board for election at the AGM, so it is a key opportunity for you as a member to vote for those you want to lead your network, or yourself stand for election. It’s also a great time for you to meet the staff team and feed in your priorities for the coming year.
As always, we have a large number of incredible prizes to give away through the afternoon, including holidays at some of Malawi’s very best lodges and hotels. There will also be live Malawian music, food, MGTs and a chance to show off your Malawi drumming skills.
It’ll be an engaging, entertaining and memorable day, so do invite as many as you wish from your group to come along. All are welcome and we especially welcome new faces and young people to come and join the fun.
