Malawi

Chimteka Village Aids and Orphan Care Coordinating Organisation (CVAOCC) is one of the strategic partners of VMM. The mission of CVACC is to identify, support and respond in an innovative way to the needs of all orphaned children of Chimteka, 200 miles west of Lilongwe, Malawi. VMM support the programme through service provision and management capacity building. The role of the management is to review and evaluate the main projects completed to date, update the comprehensive community development plan, facilitate the establishment and running of a farmers co-operative and manage the development of a Maternity wing at the health centre. Support for the nutritional surveys and feeding programme is also provided to improve food security.

Billy Riordan Memorial Trust at the Billy Riordan Memorial Clinic (Malawi) provides much needed medical care, bilharzias treatment and an under five malnourishment programme to a population of 15,000 people. The clinic also offers treatment to patients in the advanced stage of AIDS and provides counselling, testing and treatment for those living with HIV and AIDS. The primary role of the programme is to extend the Anti-retroviral clinic, to begin viral load testing and raising awareness and distribute Mosquito nets.
